Laser Genesis is a non-invasive, non-ablative laser treatment that utilizes advanced technology to target and improve a range of skin concerns, such as acne, acne scarring, age spots, and reduce pore size. This non-invasive laser facial procedure is revolutionizing the way patients can achieve radiant, youthful-looking skin without the need for surgery or extended downtime.
At the heart of Laser Genesis lies its ingenious mechanism. Unlike conventional facials, which offer limited skin benefits, laser facial operates by gently heating the dermis layer and stimulating collagen production. This helps plump the skin and reduced any look of any wrinkles or lines. The thermal energy of Laser Genesis targets the tiny vessels and capillaries that are the cause of persistent skin redness such as rosacea. By breaking down these vessels, blood that is trapped under the surface of the skin dissipates, which reduces overall redness. This controlled heating initiates a cascade of rejuvenating effects without causing any discomfort or pain during the procedure. Contrary, Laser Genesis is known for its comfort, often described as the feel of basking in the sun on a beautiful summer day.

5 KEY BENEFITS OF LASER FACIAL TREATMENTS
- Reverse Sun Damage Years of sun exposure can wreak havoc on our skin, leading to a loss of natural elasticity and premature aging. UV rays penetrate deep into the skin, causing damage to skin cells and diminishing the production of essential proteins like collagen and elastin. Laser Genesis treatments offer a solution to reverse sun damage. By stimulating the development of new skin cells in the deeper layers, this procedure helps restore the health, smoothness, and youthfulness of sun-damaged skin.
- Restore Skin Tone and Texture Aging, sun exposure and pigmentation issues can result in uneven skin tone and texture as well. Laser Genesis treatment sessions can help you achieve a smoother, more even complexion, reducing the effects of sun damage and other skin concerns.
- Reduce the Effects of Acne Scarring and Other Visible Scars Laser Genesis is a perfect solution for those dealing with acne problems. It effectively targets issues like rosacea, redness, acne, and acne scars while also preventing future breakouts. This versatile treatment can also diminish the appearance of various scars, including surgical, trauma-related, and burn-related scars.
- Diminish the Appearance of Fine Lines and Wrinkles Bid farewell to troublesome wrinkles and fine lines with Laser Genesis. By reaching deep into the skin layers, these lasers address both deep wrinkles and "expression lines," while also preventing lighter lines from becoming more pronounced over time.
- Decrease Pore Size and Rejuvenate Your Skin As we age, our skin's collagen production naturally decreases, leading to imperfections like sagging and signs of aging. Laser Genesis, a rejuvenating procedure, revitalizes your skin by boosting collagen production and reducing pore size and irregular texture. For those struggling with large pores, Laser Genesis can reduce their appearance by up to 70%. This treatment stimulates collagen production, plumping the skin and helping to fill in pores, resulting in smoother and more vibrant-looking skin.
What is the sensation experienced during the Laser Genesis procedure?
During the Laser Genesis procedure, the laser device resembles a small wand connected to a larger machine. Patients are typically provided with protective goggles, and in certain cases, their hair may be covered. The procedure itself is entirely painless. Patients usually describe a gentle warming sensation on their face, often finding it quite pleasant, akin to the warmth of the sun on their skin.
Which areas of the body can Laser Genesis effectively treat?
While Laser Genesis is most commonly performed on the face and neck, it is a versatile treatment suitable for various body regions. In addition to the face, Laser Genesis is frequently used on areas such as:
- Neck
- Shoulders
- Décolletage (chest area)
- Hands
- Other body areas (excluding the eyes and their surrounding areas).
What’s the difference between Laser Genesis and IPL?
Laser Genesis and Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) are both popular non-invasive cosmetic procedures used to improve the appearance of the skin, but they work in different ways and are suited to different skin concerns. Here's Wang Plastic Surgery & Med Spa’s breakdown of the key differences between Laser Genesis and IPL:
- Technology and Light Source:
- Laser Genesis: Laser Genesis is a near-infrared (NIR) Nd:YAG laser with a single 1064-nm wavelength of light, targeting the deeper layers of the skin with precision. It delivers micro-pulses of laser energy to stimulate collagen production and promote skin rejuvenation.
- IPL: IPL, or Intense Pulsed Light, uses a broad spectrum of light wavelengths to target various skin issues. It emits multiple wavelengths of light in each pulse, which can be adjusted to target specific skin concerns.
- Skin Concerns Addressed:
- Laser Genesis: Laser Genesis is primarily used for improving skin texture, reducing fine lines and wrinkles, and stimulating collagen production. It's effective for treating conditions like redness, rosacea, and large pores.
- IPL: IPL is versatile and can address a wide range of skin concerns, including pigmentation issues (like sunspots and freckles), redness, vascular lesions, and hair removal.
- Comfort and Sensation:
- Laser Genesis: Laser Genesis is known for its comfort. Most patients describe the sensation as a mild warming or tingling feeling on the skin, often compared to the sensation of the sun on the skin.
- IPL: IPL treatments can be slightly more uncomfortable for some individuals. Patients may experience a snapping or stinging sensation during the procedure, which is usually well-tolerated but may require topical numbing cream for sensitive areas.
- Downtime and Recovery:
- Laser Genesis: There is minimal to no downtime associated with Laser Genesis. Patients can typically resume their regular activities immediately after the treatment.
- IPL: IPL may involve some redness and mild swelling immediately after the procedure, which usually subsides within a few hours to a day. Makeup can be applied to cover any redness.
- Number of Sessions:
- Laser Genesis: A series of multiple sessions (usually 4-6) is often recommended to achieve optimal results, typically scheduled several weeks apart.
- IPL: The number of IPL sessions required can vary depending on the specific skin concern being treated, with multiple sessions usually needed for the best outcome.
When paired together, IPL + Genesis can improve the skin’s overall texture and tone to reveal the radiant glow you crave. Both Laser Genesis and IPL are effective treatments for skin rejuvenation, but they have different mechanisms of action and are better suited to specific skin concerns. Dr. Wang will make the best recommendation for one or both treatments, depending on your skin type and condition, that suits your individual skin goals.
Both Laser Genesis and IPL are effective treatments for skin rejuvenation, but they have different mechanisms of action and are better suited to specific skin concerns. Dr. Wang will make the best recommendation for one or both treatments, depending on your skin type and condition, that suits your individual skin goals.
How long does the laser genesis procedure take and how many treatments will I need?
Laser genesis is often called a “lunch break procedure,” the procedure will only take 30 minutes, and there’s no downtime. There is no need for anesthesia because it is a painless procedure which patients will just feel a gentle warming sensation.
After one session, you will notice your skin looks brighter and more youthful, and your pores look smaller. For best results, you’ll need four to six treatments spaced two to three weeks apart, , depending on the condition of your skin and what you’re looking to address, and you will likely need a maintenance procedure every year.
Are there any risks or side effects to laser genesis?
Laser Genesis is generally a safe and well-tolerated cosmetic procedure, but there are potential risks and side effects to consider. These can include temporary redness, swelling, and skin sensitivity, which typically resolve quickly. Rarely, changes in skin pigmentation or bruising may occur. Scarring is extremely rare. Proper eye protection is essential during the procedure to prevent potential eye damage. Individuals with a history of oral or facial herpes should be aware that Laser Genesis may trigger reactivation.
To prepare for Laser Genesis, make sure to come to your appointment with a fresh clean and dry skin (no makeup). Please refrain from self-tanning or high sun exposure 2 weeks prior and to stop any retinoid, Skin Exfoliant, Salicylic Acid, BHA/AHA, or Benzoyl Peroxide treatment 3 days prior to your appointment.
Patients taking antibiotics or other photosensitizing medications should not be treated due to contraindications. Please disclose the medications you are taking to our team before your treatments begin.
What is the Laser Genesis post-treatment care?
Just as any other laser skin procedures, after the treatment, patients should be gentle with their skin, wear a sunscreen of SPF 30 or higher daily and minimize UV exposure. It is advised to stay avoid prolonged or intentional strong sun exposure for a week after the laser to avoid hyper-pigmentation. Sun protective clothing and other physical shields are also recommended to ensure patient’s skin heals in the shortest possible time.

Lifestyle, habits, heredity, sun exposure and natural aging process are all factors which contributes a person’s skin problems. These can result in sagging skin, wrinkles, and pigmentation, breakdown of elastin fibers causing skin laxity and fat gets deposited in unwanted areas of the face and body. Morpheus8® is the first and only treatment to mold the fat deep in the dermal layers in order to morph and remodel face & body tissue. By combining the deep dermal rejuvenation of microneedling with controlled and targeted Radiofrequency energy application, change is stimulated within the skin’s foundational structure thereby collagen production. Morpheus8® can be described as a skin resurfacing treatment that virtually erases age and damage from the skin to achieve a much tighter, and youthful appearance.
Morpheus8® can effectively help improve the appearance of:
- Diminishing the signs of aging

How does Morpheus8® Differ from Thermage®, Ulterapy®, or Dermapen® ?
Thermage, Ultherapy, and Dermapen are all very effective skin rejuvenation treatments using different technology. However, we feel that skin maintenance is the same as doing exercise for your body. If you do the same workout every time you exercise, you will quickly get diminishing returns on that exercise routine. So if you have been receiving other types of skin rejuvenation treatments, Morpheus8® will be a good option to try. Morpheus8 uses radiofrequency (RF) energy just as Thermage®, in conjunction with microneedling technology which is similar to Dermapen®.
Just as any microneedling or Dermapen® facial, Morpheus8® can be coupled with PRP (platelet rich plasma), PRFM, or stem cell derived Exosome growth factors for even more collagen stimulation and optimized results.
Is Morpheus8® Treatment Painful? How’s the Morpheus8® Treatment Process?
Pain sensation and tolerance varies widely between individuals and depends on which part of the body is undergoing treatment. At Wang Plastic Surgery, we make our patients’ comfort during each procedure a priority. For non-invasive and minimal-invasive procedures, in conjunction with topical numbing cream, we can offer oral anesthesia medication or Pro-Nox™ (nitrous oxide) with advance request. Local anesthesia may be required when treating looser skin that requires deeper penetration.
After the topical numbing cream has desensitized the skin, we begin treatment using a small handheld applicator. The tip of the applicator has several micropins that are powered with radiofrequency via the Morpheus8® device platform. Our clinician will place the applicator against your skin for a few seconds while energy is inserted through the micropins. The applicator is then removed from the surface and placed onto the adjacent area in a stamping motion rather than a gliding motion. Depending on the size of the treatment area, the procedure generally takes from 15 to 60 minutes.
How Many Morpheus8® Treatments Will I need?
Morpheus8 begins to stimulate change immediately after the first treatment. Depending on the extent of improvement a patient desires, a series of 2 to 4 treatments may be considered. It is our intent to recommend only what a patient needs to reach their desired outcome. We conduct a thorough consultation and skin assessment to fully understand each person’s needs.
Will I experience any downtime after Morpheus8® Treatments?
The recovery process after a Morpheus8® treatment is similar to most non-invasive laser procedures. During the first three days post-treatment, some patients may experience some redness, swelling, and itchiness, but these side effects are usually mild.
The following protocols are advised to our Morpheus8® patients:
- For the first two days, wash the treated area with warm water, keep skin clean to avoid bacteria and friction.
- Men should avoid shaving for 4 days after treatment.
- Avoid saunas, steam rooms, excessive exercise, hot baths or showers for one week post treatment.
- Wear a sunscreen of SPF 30 or higher daily and avoid UV exposure within one month.
- Avoid invasive skin care products or treatments until recovery.
How long does it take to see visible results from Morpheus8® Treatments?
Visible results can be seen within a few days after the Morpheus8® Treatment, but typically after three weeks the most noticeable results appear. Improvements continue may be up to three months after treatment. However, the effects aren’t permanent; annual visits are recommended to maintain results.
If you're ready to recover and awaken your body’s own fountain of youth to improve skin texture, pore size, uneven skin pigmentation, wrinkles and lines with a Morpheus8® treatment in Pasadena, San Gabriel Valley, the Inland Empire, or Santa Ana in Orange Country, it's time to schedule your visit to Wang Plastic Surgery! For most women, having spotless, bright and even skin tone, smooth and even texture not only leads to higher self-confidence, but also an important way to maintain a healthy and youthful state of mind. A spa-like experience that removes your aging spot, sunspots, or post-inflammatory pigmentation in under an hour, at any time of the year is very cool! Literally cool!! Glacial™ Rx, or Glacial skin, is a revolutionary, FDA-approved, skin treatment that removes benign skin lesions like aging spots, sunspots, liver spots anywhere on the body, utilizing a patented cooling technology called cryomodulation. Wang Plastic Surgery in Pasadena is honored to be one of the selected few practices to offer Glacial™ Rx in the greater Los Angeles and San Gabriel Valley area. Glacial™ Rx targets specific spots of excess pigment, lightening them and suppressing the production of melanin within the tissue by freezing the melanocytes, the cells that create melanin, the dark brown to black pigmentation in your body. As your skin pigmentation is freezed by Glacial™ Rx, the new skin cells will regenerate without the excess pigmentation, resulting refreshed, toned, brighter and generally more youthful skin.
Secondly, the cooling effect of Glacial™ Rx also helps reduce redness in the skin. This is linked to suppression of the inflammatory process in the skin, resulting in acceleration of skin metabolism, revealing a more radiant skin complexion. Therefore, in addition to the sunspots and aging spots, other factors related to pigmentation issues include the hormone-related pigmentation of melasma or the redness of rosacea usually respond well to this treatment because it downregulates the inflammatory process, helping to calm irritated skin and decrease inflammation, resulting pigmentation changes.
For those with autoimmune or those who cannot tolerate the heat-generating laser skin treatments that feel like a snapping rubber band (even with numbing cream) or responds with post-inflammatory pigmentation, Glacial™ Rx reportedly feels soothing, relaxing, and refreshing, with no side effects because the cooling effects will modulate inflammatory responses. Glacial™ Rx requires no downtime and no anesthesia. If you’d like to inquire about Glacial™ Rx in Pasadena , San Gabriel Valley, Inland Empire area, Santa Ana, Irvine, and Orange County areas you may request a consultation online or call Wang Plastic Surgery at (888) 360-6688 today to schedule your appointment.
Age spots (seborrheic keratoses) are made up of excess skin cells and an overproduction of melanin. When these cells clump together, your complexion will become dull with uneven tone and texture along with dark spots. Sun damage caused pigmented changes and dull skin texture will add on to the problem. Glacial™ Rx could addresses all of these conditions.
Glacial™ Rx has 3 notable core effects:
- NORMALIZE MELANIN Impair ability of melanocytes to deliver melanin, accelerating exfoliation and normalizing pigment deposition.
- EXFOLIATE SKIN Clear away old dead skin and promote generation of new skin.
- BREAK INFLAMMATION CYCLE Modulate the production of cytokines (cell signaling molecules), decreasing pro-inflammatory mediators and increasing anti-inflammatory mediators.
What should I expect during the Glacial™ Rx treatment?
The treatment is comfortable and requires no anesthesia. Its cooling feature temporarily reduces pain, swelling, and inflammation.
Using the Glacial Rx handpiece, our medical specialist will gently apply a cold plate to each sunspot for 15 to 20 seconds. The cooling will reduce redness and puffiness as the device moves across your skin.
The whole process will take about 45 minutes, depending on the amount of age spots are being treated.
During the treatment, your skin will be more receptive to topical skin care. We will apply medical grade highly concentrated serums with brightening agents and antioxidants, to help protect your skin and accelerate cell turnover. Think of it as getting a luxurious facial. We will also provide the remaining topical products for you to use at home, to maximize and prolong your results.
When will I see results with Glacial™ Rx?
Age spots and splotches of excess pigment will gradually start to lighten within a few days, as cells turn over.
Most people see results in less than a month, sometimes even within days. In clinical trials, 93% of treated age spots lightened within two months.
Within the first few weeks after your treatment, you may have some social downtime if you have multiple spots treated on the face, with more microcrusting than usual. If that happens, let the crusts flake off naturally (picking on the scab could cause scarring).
Using sunscreen with an SPF 30+ and wearing wide-brimmed hats when you’re outside will help protect your skin from sun damage so that you’ll need fewer maintenance treatments.
How many sessions of Glacial™ Rx do I need?
While the treatment permanently normalizes melanin production in spot-treated areas, you may develop spots in other areas, particularly if you're not diligent about avoiding sun damage. You may need more than one Glacial Rx treatment to clear your skin of unwanted sunspots and splotches.
After the Glacial™ Rx procedure, the whole face brightening effect can be obvious. Maintenance treatments can help patients better manage uneven skin tone, dark yellow dullness, sensitive redness and other complexion problems, and at the same time create a healthy skin foundation and prevent the generation of unwanted pigmentation.
Is Glacial™ Rx safe?
Glacial™ Rx is FDA-cleared to remove benign lesions like age spots (also known as sunspots, liver spots, or solar lentigines) anywhere on the body. In clinical studies involving more than 600 participants, only minor side effects were reported. The most common were redness, temporary darkening of the treatment area, and “microcrusting,” all of which resolved on their own within a few days.
Tired of battling against your age spots, acne scars, or any other hyperpigmentation or benign pigmentation lesions? Want to refine your skin imperfections for a more youthful, revitalized aesthetic with Glacial™ Rx cryoaesthetic treatment? As we age, facial wrinkles and folds appear in areas of the face which move repetitively, these are called dynamic wrinkles. The RHA® Collection of designer fillers were approved by FDA as the first and only range of FDA-approved dermal fillers for correction of dynamic wrinkles. This excellence of Swiss science is designed to adapt to the dynamic demands of the face, for a look that’s beautiful at rest and flawless in motion. The RHA® Collection is only made available in select practices in the U.S. with a reputation for providing exceptional patient treatment outcomes and Wang Plastic Surgery is proud to be one of the select practices to offer the RHA® Collection in its Pasadena, Santa Ana, and Inland Empire offices.
The RHA® Collection has already enjoyed years of success and widely used by aesthetic experts outside of the US since 2015. The RHA® was developed by an innovative Swiss company, TEOXANE, the third largest hyaluronic acid-based pharmaceutical company in the world. TEOXANE was founded in 2013 by a leading expert in the field of beauty and aesthetics, Madame Valerie Taupin, who co-created the dermal filler Juvéderm® two decades ago. Madame Taupin saw limitations with traditional hyaluronic acid (HA) fillers: they were engineered with high degree of chemical modification. She directed her research team to design a HA filler to more closely mimic HA in the skin - this introduced the latest filler innovation in the market: RHA® Collection. The fillers are designed with a crosslinking method that preserves the hyaluronic acid (HA) network to more closely mimic natural HA found in the skin. The gels have a unique combination of stretch and dynamic strength that makes it resilient enough to accompany, rather than endure, the demands of a constantly moving face.
Now is a great time to schedule a dermal filler consultation with Dr. Wang at our plastic surgery offices, serving Southern California including Pasadena, Arcadia and the Inland Empire. You can request a consultation online or call Wang Plastic Surgery at (888) 360-6688 today to schedule your appointment.
How is the RHA® Collection different than other dermal fillers?
The RHA® Collection of hyaluronic acid fillers are the only FDA-approved hyaluronic acid fillers for dynamic wrinkles and folds. Like other HA dermal fillers, RHA® is made from hyaluronic acid—but RHA® is different, because it’s made differently. RHA® uses a gentle manufacturing process. This process helps preserve the natural structure of the HA, helping it mimic the natural HA found in your skin. RHA® is the latest advancement in HA filler technology, purposely designed to perform in the most dynamic areas of the face without looking stiff or unnatural.
What’s in the RHA® Collection?
The US FDA approved RHA® 2, RHA® 3, and RHA® 4 products, which include lidocaine. The difference between RHA® 2, 3, and 4 is the amount of crosslinking in each, with RHA® 4 having the most (making it ideal for injection into the deep dermis to superficial subcutaneous tissue) and RHA® 2 having the least. Unlike fillers that tend to be stiffer and stay in one place, RHA® integrates with your tissues and moves with your facial muscles, so when you smile and then relax your face, talk, or emote, it appears more natural. The Resilient Hyaluronic Acid (RHA®) will effectively smooth facial wrinkles and folds, such as nasolabial folds, while still allowing for facial movement.
How are the RHA® Collection of dermal fillers used?
Indications for use in adults (over age 21 years) are:
- RHA® 2 and RHA® 3 are indicated for injection into the mid-to-deep dermis for the correction of moderate-to-severe dynamic facial wrinkles and folds.
- • RHA® 4 is indicated for injection into the deep dermis to superficial subcutaneous tissue for the correction of moderate-to-severe dynamic facial wrinkles and folds.
In Europe, the RHA Collection is branded as Teosyal, and the Teosyal Redensity II is being widely used as tear trough dermal filler treatment to help improve concerns with eye bags, sunken, dark circles around the eye area and tired looking eyes.
How are RHA® treatments performed?
RHA® injections are performed using very small needles so pain is minimal and topical anesthetic can be used to reduce any discomfort?
How long do RHA® treatments take?
RHA® treatments typically take 30 minutes at our Southern California plastic surgery office located in Pasadena, Upland, and Santa Ana.
What results can I expect?
Results are immediately noticed in the treatment areas with optimal results being seen within the following weeks. There is no downtime associated with RHA®.
How long will the RHA® dermal fillers last?
The effects of dermal filler can last anywhere from three months to two years, depending on the product and treatment area, but the RHA collection is approved to last up to 15 months

As we all grow older, deep lines and folds begin to appear along the contours of our face betraying our age to everyone who sees us. Many people in Southern California believe the only liberation from these facial furrows is a surgical face lift in Pasadena, Inland Empire, or Santa Ana but injectable fillers like Restylane®, have proven to be effective and much less invasive than surgery. The Restylane line of products is formulated to act like your body's own naturally occurring hyaluronic acid, restoring volume to your skin.
Restylane® brings together two unique technologies (OBT™ and NASHA™) for the broadest range of HA Fillers - the choice to deliver truly individualized results and natural elegance patients desire.
The Restylane NASHA™ (Non-Animal Stabilized Hyaluronic Acid) technology provides gels with a firmer texture and are used to create projection and definition. They provide lifting and precision, and are suitable for lifting the cheeks, enhancing the nose, jawline or chin, or reducing the appearance of wrinkles for patients with thicker tissue coverage. NASHA™ products are Restylane™, and Restylane Lyft™.
The Restylane OBT™ (Optimal Balance Technology) gels are softer and more flexible, designed for contour and preservation of natural expressions. They are used, for example, to add volume in the midface, or to enhance contours for patients with thinner tissue coverage where a softer product is preferred. Restylane OBT™ gels are also used for dynamic areas of the face such as lips, nasolabial folds and marionette lines. OBT™ products are Restylane Defyne™, Restylane Refyne™, Restylane Volyme™, Restylane Fynesse™, and Restylane Kysse™.

Wang Plastic Surgery is proud to offer the entire Restylane family in San Gabriel Valley, Inland Empire and Orange County to make sure we can customize each treatment with the perfect filler needed in each area. This is not a “one size fits all” procedure. What one person uses to get their lips plumped does not mean that it would be the best option for you. Each type of Restylane filler is made up of different size HA particles that change the elasticity, viscosity, lift capacity, and the amount of secondary swelling from the HA that can occur. HA gels with larger particles for severe wrinkles and greater volume. Medium-sized particles fillers are for moderate to severe wrinkles and folds. Lastly, dermal fillers with finer particles are for fine wrinkles and detailed shaping. Depending on the area being injected we choose different products that are best to reach your aesthetic goals.
What are the different types of Restylane HA dermal fillers, their usage, and how long do they last? What are the common benefits of Restylane treatments?
Restylane (Classic) and Restylane-L®
This has a NASHA gel with intermediate gel particle size that makes it suitable for moderate wrinkles and lip enhancement. It is recommended that it is injected into the middle to deep part of the dermis (middle layer of skin). Restylane-L ®, is the original Restylane with the addition of lidocaine a local anesthetic that improves patient comfort during treatment.
Restylane-L is used for:
- Correction of moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds, such as nasolabial folds.
- Smooth away wrinkles and furrow lines.
- Can last as long as 18 months, but it will depend on the area that you’re having treated.
Restylane Lyft™, formerly known as Perlane-L®
This is an injectable hyaluronic acid gel with largest particle size used to correct volume loss and treat wrinkles in the face and hands with NASHA technology. Through nonsurgical injections, Restylane Lyft is specifically designed to add fullness to the cheeks, midface area, and the back of the hands to help complete your aesthetic look — for face and hands. Restylane Lyft is the first and only hyaluronic acid filler FDA-approved to treat your face and hands.
Restylane Lift™ is used for:
- Enhance and shape cheek area and correct moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds.
- Adding volume to the midface area for up to 12 months.
- Correct nasolabial folds for up to 6 months.
- Improve volume in the back of the hand for up to 6 months.
Restylane Refyne™ (formerly Emervel Classic)
Restylane® Refyne is designed with XpresHAn Technology™ to help soften laugh lines (nasolabial folds and marionette lines). The unique cross-linking of the gel in Restylane Refyne is also designed to help support your natural expression, maintaining natural movement when you're smiling, frowning and even puckering up. It is injected into the dermis layer. The addition of lidocaine ensures comfort during treatment.
Restylane Refyne™ is used for:
- Nasolabial folds - the lines that run from the sides of your nose toward the corners of your mouth
- Marionette lines- the lines that run from the corners of your mouth toward the chin
- Can last 6-9 months, depending on the individual's skin type factors, such as age, lifestyle and technique used.
Restylane Defyne™ (formerly Emervel Deep)
Has a high volume lifting effect and integrates with the skin matrix to smooth away deep wrinkles or folds such as naso-labial and marionette lines (mouth-to-chin lines). It is injected into the deep dermis or upper subcutaneous layer and has the addition of 0.3% lidocaine for comfort during treatment. It is FDA-approved hyaluronic acid filler designed specifically for injection into the lips for lip augmentation and for correction of upper perioral rhytids in patients over the age of 21 to create a softer, plumper pout. Restylane Kysse is made with a unique OBT™ cross-linking formulation that balances the filler's structure and flexibility to suit the highly soft and mobile lip area. The filler particles are smaller than other Restylane fillers making it less prone to palpability and lumps to fill-in the tiny vertical lip lines.
Specifically formulated to enhance, define or augment the lip volume and adding definition to the lips border. Restylane Kysse™ is made with XpresHAn Technology™ which gives the hyaluronic acid gels more flexibility and tissue integration than your traditional dermal fillers. It means that the filler is great for areas of the face with lots of movement (you know, the lips!) as it can move along with the tissue seamlessly. It is injected into the body of the lip and the border and comes with the addition of lidocaine.
Restylane Kysse™ is used for:
- Fuller lips (lip augmentation)

- The overall effects will last up to 12 months depending on the individual's skin type factors, such as age, lifestyle and technique used.
How are Restylane treatments performed?
Restylane injections are performed using very small needles so pain is minimal and topical anesthetic can be used to reduce any discomfort.
How long do Restylane treatments take?
Restylane treatments typically take 30 minutes at our Southern California plastic surgery office located in Pasadena, Upland, and Santa Ana.
What can I expect after Restylane treatment?
For many of our Los Angles patients, no downtime is required, and they can return to regular activities the same day. Swelling is possible with some patients but won't last more than a day or two. Patients who have received HA dermal filler injections should avoid places such as sauna and steam room, avoid high temperature, hot compresses, and massages, etc., because they will promote facial blood circulation and accelerate the metabolism and hydrolysis of the dermal filler.
Restylane has become very popular in San Gabriel Valley, Inland Empire, and Orange Country. Independent study suggests that in addition to its "plumping" effect under the skin, Restylane stimulates cells called fibroblasts to stretch as they did when they were younger. This apparently causes the production of new collagen and chemicals that inhibit collagen from breaking down. The researchers theorize that this unique property contributes to the long-lasting effects most patients enjoy with Restylane.
This non-surgical option has become very popular in Pasadena, Upland and Santa Ana, especially with men who want to enjoy the benefits of a more youthful appearance without going under the knife. If you are in Pasadena, La Cañada Flintridge, San Marino, and would like to learn which Restylane® filler(s) is the best treatment option for you, please contact Wang Plastic Surgery Pasadena Office. Wang Plastic Surgery Upland also receives Restylane® patients from Claremont, Rancho Cucamonga, Montclair, Riverside, and Chino in the San Bernardino County. We also accept Restylane® patients from Brea, Yorba Linda, Anaheim, Irvine, Costa Mesa and Newport in our Santa Ana Office. Jeuveau™( aka the #Newtox!), is the FDA approved fourth Botox-like injection, like Botox®, Dysport®, and Xeomin®, Jeuveau™ is used to temporarily improve the appearance of frown lines between the eyebrows — technically called the glabellar lines, but often referred to as the furrow “11” wrinkle lines. Just as most of the neuromodulators, Newtox, are used as off-label wrinkle relaxers to treat other areas, like crow's feet around the eyes and smile lines. Jeuveau™ is the first alternative to Botox available in the United States in nearly ten years and is now available at Wang’s Plastic Surgery Pasadena in Los Angeles County, Upland office in the Inland Empire, and Santa Ana office in Orange County.
Jeuveau™ and Botox® both work by relaxing the muscles that cause these wrinkles. Unlike Dysport® and Xeomin®, the other alternatives to Botox that are currently available in the United States, Jeuveau™ works exactly the same as Botox. Studies have shown that their characteristics are almost identical, which means patients will see results just as fast, enjoy results just as long, with the same safety profile. Similarly, a natural look is dependent on having an experienced injector who does not over do it. It is recommended that a board-certified dermatologist or plastic surgeon who has experience in performing the procedure to avoid side effects. Learn more about Jeuveau™ #Newtox now at Wang Plastic Surgery in Pasadena , San Gabriel Valley, Inland Empire area, Santa Ana, Irvine, and Orange County areas, by requesting a consultation online or calling Wang Plastic Surgery at (888) 360-6688 to schedule your appointment.
What is Jeuveau™ or Newtox?
Jeuveau™ temporarily treats lines and wrinkles at the source, relaxing the underlying muscles of the face to create and smooth, refreshed finish. Expression lines are softened and smoothed, awakening your face and taking years off your appearance.
What’s the difference between Jeauveau™ and Botox®?
Like Botox®, Jeuveau™ has a molecular weight of 900 kDa, but they're produced in different facilities and are derived from different strains of the same toxin. Botox, or onabotulinumtoxinA, is made by Allergan in Westport, Ireland. Jeuveau™, or prabotulinumtoxinA-xvfs, is owned and designed by Evolus, a Newport Beach, CA based U.S. company. However, the manufacturing of Jeuveau™ takes place in South Korea, at a new state-of-the-art manufacturing facility by Daewoong Pharmaceutical. The risks and potential side effects listed by the companies are also identical.
Jeuveau™ undergoes a stringent purification process called “Hi-Pure™” technology. Instead of being freeze-dried (a process referred to as lyophilization), Jeuveau™is vacuum-dried. According to Evolus, this differing drying process does NOT breakdown the protein, a process referred to as protein denaturation, which more of the “active” toxin is preserved in the manufacturing process.
Jeuveau™ is first toxin that is designer made for purely aesthetic use. #Newtox is 100% made for cosmetic use, no medical conditions treatments.
How long does Jeuveau™ last?
Jeuveau lasts several months. Most patients will see results last anywhere from 4-6 months. Individual results and longevity may vary.
What are the side effects of Newtox?
The most commonly reported side effects in clinical trials include headache, eyelid drooping, upper respiratory tract infection and increased white blood cell count. No serious drug-related adverse events were observed in the studies.
Lines and wrinkles can leave you looking angry, tired, and older. If you are looking for a non-surgical anti-aging treatment to ease your frown lines, crow’s feet, or fine lines around the mouth, Jeuveau™ may be the treatment option for you. Schedule an appointment to find out if you’re a good candidate for Newtox now! Pico laser is a non-surgical, non-invasive, and non-ablative laser skin treatment that can focus on specific problem areas in multiple areas on the face and body. Picosecond laser or pico laser toning has become the new gold standard for treating most skin imperfections, such as age spot, sun spot, Melasma, acne scars, various benign pigment lesions, making skin look brighter, smoother, and rejuvenated. There are various brands of pico lasers out in the market, such as Picosure ®, Picoway ®, Picocare ®, Picowon ®, etc. However, as he always choses the best for his patients, Dr. Wang has chosen the innovation introduced by Discovery PICO, which consists in peak power level through ultrashort pulses and is twice more powerful than any other Picosecond laser for medical applications.
Discovery Pico is a revolutionary technology that delivers ultra-short pulses of energy (but not heat) to target problem areas, creating an intense impact that shatters the target skin pigment or tattoo ink particles that are then easily eliminated by the body. A picosecond equals to 10−12 or 1/1,000,000,000,000 (one trillionth) of a second.1 picosecond = 0.0001 nanosecond, now you can imagine how fast Pico laser is. An ultra-short pulse duration is important as shorter pulse duration means less photo-thermal effect (less heat) and gentle to out layer of surrounding skin. This allows doctors to deliver stronger laser energy with greater safety, but patients only feel mild to no discomfort during treatment as Pico does not ablate or burn off the outer layer of skin.
Both men and women can be good candidates for DISCOVERY PICO, but it still requires a qualified and experienced cosmetic surgeon and team to advise the most suitable procedure(s) to treat your condition. If you’d like to inquire about Discovery Pico in Pasadena , San Gabriel Valley, Inland Empire area, Santa Ana, Irvine, and Orange County areas you may request a consultation online or call Wang Plastic Surgery at (888) 360-6688 today to schedule your appointment.
How does Discovery Pico laser toning work?
Discovery Pico is the first “second generation” picosecond Nd:YAG laser for tattoo removal, pigmented lesions, acne scars and wrinkles. This laser series includes up to three wavelengths, 532 nm – 1064 nm – 694 nm, high peak power and up to four emission modes to combine maximum operating performances with the widest range of treatments. High peak power means more laser energy to break down stubborn pigments, which translates to better results with fewer sessions.
What is Discovery Pico Laser skin toning most effective in treating?
Coupling the different hand pieces, wavelengths and emission modes, the Discovery Pico laser could effectively treat large pores, skin discoloration, pigmented lesions, aged skin and tattoo removal.
Shatter pigmentations: tattoo removal, brown spot, aging spots, sun spots, freckles, birth marks, melasma or chloasma, acne scars, or most birth or acquired abnormal pigmentations caused by sun exposure, hormonal changes, drugs and medical condition, trauma to the skin (burns, cuts, bug bites, acne, or post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation.
Skin rejuvenation: smoothen scars, reduction of wrinkles and fine lines, refine large pores. Brighter and tighter skin due to collagen stimulation.
Skin resurfacing: : birth mark removal, or the removal of keloids, keratosis, verruca or warts, and skin tags.
Traditional IPL treatments: permanent hair reduction, dermatological vascular lesions, inflammatory acne, scar revision.
How many sessions of Discovery Pico laser do I need?
Depending on what is being treated and the patient’s skin type, most patients will require between 2 to 6 Discovery Pico sessions spaced at 4-6 week intervals.
Is there any downtime after Discovery Pico laser skin toning?
There is mild flushing of the treated area which usually resolves after a few hours. More obvious localized redness lasting a few days may occur with intensive spot treatments for more resistant pigmentation. Please speak with our medical team to discuss your tolerance for downtime, and they will adjust your treatment level accordingly.
For certain patients, some greying/browning/darkening of the existing pigmentation may be expected before it fades off. This is normal and one shouldn’t be worried as it will fade off in time.
Is Discovery Pico painful?
Pain sensation and tolerance varies widely between individuals and depends on which part of the body is undergoing treatment. Without any numbing cream or anesthesia applied, most people describe as having your skin snapped with a rubber band with a tingling sensation. Of course, our team will do their best to minimize any potential discomfort for our patients.
At Wang Plastic Surgery, we make our patients’ comfort during each procedure a priority. For non-invasive and minimal-invasive procedures, we offer topical numbing cream, injectable anesthetics or Pro-Nox™ (nitrous oxide) with advance reservation.
Do I need special care before and after Discovery Pico laser skin toning?
You skin should not be tanned prior to treatment. After the treatment, you should be gentle with your skin, wear a sunscreen of SPF 30 or higher daily and minimize your UV exposure. it is advised to stay avoid prolonged or intentional strong sun exposure for a week after the laser to avoid hyper-pigmentation. Sun protective clothing and other physical shields are also recommended to ensure your skin heals in the shortest possible time. Patients should avoid sleeping on the treated area to prevent prolonged swelling. Cold compresses can be applied to alleviate any pain.

On July 24, 2019, Allergan has voluntarily recalled BIOCELL® Textured Breast Implants and Tissue Expanders across their worldwide markets. Their global action follows a specific request from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to protect women from breast implant-associated anaplastic large cell lymphoma (BIA-ALCL). The FDA’s recommendations, along with updated data on BIA-ALCL can be seen here.
Importantly, for existing patients with BIOCELL® implants, the FDA statement re-emphasizes that they do not recommend the removal or replacement of textured breast implants in asymptomatic patients. Allergan has also created the BIOCELL® Replacement Warranty for all patients currently implanted with BIOCELL® textured implants.
Want to get rid of a tattoo you've outgrown? Of all of the methods available to remove or alter a tattoo including lightening creams, excision, surgery, and microdermabrasion, laser tattoo removal is becoming the most popular and effective. But do you know which type of laser offers the best result? Look no further. Wang Plastic Surgery Pasadena offers next-generation Discovery Pico Laser that could de-ink a full spectrum of pigment colors and in less treatment sessions than the traditional Q-switched nanosecond laser.
Laser technology has advanced, and tattoos are no longer permanent. It's no longer painful or difficult to remove large and colorful tattoos. The de-inking process has evolved in recent years, from embarrassing and potentially skin-damaging process to a safer, more sophisticated laser technology. In the past, removing tattoos with light blue and green pigments have been the most challenging with nanosecond laser. The Discovery Pico laser that Dr. Stewart Wang chose treats all tattoo colors and do so precisely and evenly reducing the discomfort and recovery time often associated with laser tattoo removal. Find out how easy it is to de-ink your tattoo regret and request a consultation online or call Wang Plastic Surgery at (888) 360-6688 today to schedule your appointment.
How does Pico Laser tattoo removal work?
Q-Switched lasers have traditionally been the gold standard method used for removing tattoos, and still are, but with the advent of picosecond technology, the treatment was made quicker, and in some cases, more efficient and less painful, depending on the tattoo type.
Unlike the Q-Switched laser treatments that use intensive laser energy to heat up and break the tattoo ink particles into smaller pieces, Discovery Pico lasers offer patients a much gentler and more effective treatment as picosecond laser tattoo removal doesn’t use any heat. It uses photoacoustic effect, ultra-short laser pulses, to shatter the ink particles at very high pressure. The Pico laser fires pulses at a trillionth of a second and shatters the ink into tiny dust particles which can be absorbed much more quickly and easily, and eventually get eliminated by the body.
How many sessions does Pico Laser require to remove my tattoo?
In the past, removing a tattoo can take about 10 to 15 visits, six to eight weeks apart. Now our picosecond laser tattoo removal process in Pasadena only takes an average of 6 to 8 visits, six to eight weeks apart, depending on the area, the colors, how deep the ink is embedded, age of the tattoo and skin tone. The Discovery Pico Plus laser allows stacked treatments, cutting the number of sessions required in half.
Factors which will influence the effectiveness of laser tattoo removal:
- Concentration of pigment: If the tattoo pigment density is distributed at the bottom layer of the skin.
- Location: If the tattoo is located at the end of the limbs, where the lymphatic circulation is relatively poor, and the color is also difficult to resolve.
- Age of Tattoo: If the tattoo is more than one year old, then it’s easier because the pigment has been partially metabolized by the lymphatic circulation.
- Color: Due to the different chemical composition of the pigment, the reaction to the laser is also different. Generally, black is the easiest color to remove, red and green are not easy, because these two colors are not easy to absorb laser light.
How long is each laser tattoo removal session and is there any downtime?
Each Discovery Pico laser tattoo removal treatment session may range from 3 to 50 minutes long depending on the size of the tattoo. There is not downtime. However, it’s advised to avoid sun exposure two weeks after laser treatment.
Is the Picosecond laser tattoo removal painful?
Pain sensation and tolerance varies widely between individuals and depends on which part of the body is undergoing treatment. Without any numbing cream or anesthesia applied, most people describe the sensation as having your skin snapped with a rubber band. Of course, our team will do their best to minimize any potential discomfort for our patients.
