Glacial™ Rx – Painless & Cool Way to Remove Dark Spots

Glacial Rx Spots Removal– Pasadena, Inland Empire, Santa Ana

For most women, having spotless, bright and even skin tone, smooth and even texture not only leads to higher self-confidence, but also an important way to maintain a healthy and youthful state of mind. A spa-like experience that removes your aging spot, sunspots, or post-inflammatory pigmentation in under an hour, at any time of the year is very cool! Literally cool!! Glacial™ Rx, or Glacial skin, is a revolutionary, FDA-approved, skin treatment that removes benign skin lesions like aging spots, sunspots, liver spots anywhere on the body, utilizing a patented cooling technology called cryomodulation. Wang Plastic Surgery in Pasadena is honored to be one of the selected few practices to offer Glacial™ Rx in the greater Los Angeles and San Gabriel Valley area. Glacial™ Rx targets specific spots of excess pigment, lightening them and suppressing the production of melanin within the tissue by freezing the melanocytes, the cells that create melanin, the dark brown to black pigmentation in your body. As your skin pigmentation is freezed by Glacial™ Rx, the new skin cells will regenerate without the excess pigmentation, resulting refreshed, toned, brighter and generally more youthful skin.

Secondly, the cooling effect of Glacial™ Rx also helps reduce redness in the skin. This is linked to suppression of the inflammatory process in the skin, resulting in acceleration of skin metabolism, revealing a more radiant skin complexion. Therefore, in addition to the sunspots and aging spots, other factors related to pigmentation issues include the hormone-related pigmentation of melasma or the redness of rosacea usually respond well to this treatment because it downregulates the inflammatory process, helping to calm irritated skin and decrease inflammation, resulting pigmentation changes.

For those with autoimmune or those who cannot tolerate the heat-generating laser skin treatments that feel like a snapping rubber band (even with numbing cream) or responds with post-inflammatory pigmentation, Glacial™ Rx reportedly feels soothing, relaxing, and refreshing, with no side effects because the cooling effects will modulate inflammatory responses. Glacial™ Rx requires no downtime and no anesthesia. If you’d like to inquire about Glacial™ Rx in Pasadena , San Gabriel Valley, Inland Empire area, Santa Ana, Irvine, and Orange County areas you may request a consultation online or call Wang Plastic Surgery at (888) 360-6688 today to schedule your appointment.

Age spots (seborrheic keratoses) are made up of excess skin cells and an overproduction of melanin. When these cells clump together, your complexion will become dull with uneven tone and texture along with dark spots. Sun damage caused pigmented changes and dull skin texture will add on to the problem.  Glacial™ Rx could addresses all of these conditions.

Glacial™ Rx has 3 notable core effects:

  1. NORMALIZE MELANIN
  2. Impair ability of melanocytes to deliver melanin, accelerating exfoliation and normalizing pigment deposition.
  3. EXFOLIATE SKIN
  4. Clear away old dead skin and promote generation of new skin.
  5. BREAK INFLAMMATION CYCLE
  6. Modulate the production of cytokines (cell signaling molecules), decreasing pro-inflammatory mediators and increasing anti-inflammatory mediators.

What should I expect during the Glacial™ Rx treatment?

The treatment is comfortable and requires no anesthesia. Its cooling feature temporarily reduces pain, swelling, and inflammation.

Using the Glacial Rx handpiece, our medical specialist will gently apply a cold plate to each sunspot for 15 to 20 seconds. The cooling will reduce redness and puffiness as the device moves across your skin.

The whole process will take about 45 minutes, depending on the amount of age spots are being treated.

During the treatment, your skin will be more receptive to topical skin care. We will apply medical grade highly concentrated serums with brightening agents and antioxidants, to help protect your skin and accelerate cell turnover. Think of it as getting a luxurious facial. We will also provide the remaining topical products for you to use at home, to maximize and prolong your results.

When will I see results with Glacial™ Rx?

Age spots and splotches of excess pigment will gradually start to lighten within a few days, as cells turn over.

Most people see results in less than a month, sometimes even within days. In clinical trials, 93% of treated age spots lightened within two months.

Within the first few weeks after your treatment, you may have some social downtime if you have multiple spots treated on the face, with more microcrusting than usual. If that happens, let the crusts flake off naturally (picking on the scab could cause scarring).

Using sunscreen with an SPF 30+ and wearing wide-brimmed hats when you’re outside will help protect your skin from sun damage so that you’ll need fewer maintenance treatments.

How many sessions of Glacial™ Rx do I need?

While the treatment permanently normalizes melanin production in spot-treated areas, you may develop spots in other areas, particularly if you're not diligent about avoiding sun damage. You may need more than one Glacial Rx treatment to clear your skin of unwanted sunspots and splotches.

After the Glacial™ Rx procedure, the whole face brightening effect can be obvious. Maintenance treatments can help patients better manage uneven skin tone, dark yellow dullness, sensitive redness and other complexion problems, and at the same time create a healthy skin foundation and prevent the generation of unwanted pigmentation.

Is Glacial™ Rx safe?

Glacial™ Rx is FDA-cleared to remove benign lesions like age spots (also known as sunspots, liver spots, or solar lentigines) anywhere on the body. In clinical studies involving more than 600 participants, only minor side effects were reported. The most common were redness, temporary darkening of the treatment area, and “microcrusting,” all of which resolved on their own within a few days.
