Our improved machine is called the Thermage CPT System and it represents a leap forward in skin tightening and contouring technology. Unparallelled results and improved patient comfort are at the core of this new system, which utilizes proprietary Comfort Pulse Technology™ and a vibrating handpiece for improved patient comfort. Treatment with the new technology is also more effective, due to more uniform heating and increased volume of tissue reaching therapeutic temperature.
The CPT system's new energy delivery algorithm alternates pulsed radiofrequency delivery with cooling bursts mimicking Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation ("TENS") therapy, to disrupt the brain's neural response, resulting in improved patient comfort.
Thermage facial treatments target fine lines and wrinkles, smoothing surface skin while tightening and renewing your skin's collagen. Eyes by Thermage™, a targeted procedure popular with many of Dr. Wang's patients, smoothes and tightens upper eyelids and the skin around the eye, making eyes appear more rested without surgery or injections. In addition, Dr. Wang now offers Body by Thermage™ and Hands by Thermage™ treatments, two other FDA-approved procedures for his Southern California patients.
Imagine the extraordinary benefits of Thermage non-invasive facelift technology being used to treat and tighten the skin on your breasts, thighs, stomach, hands, and even your arms. With his extensive experience using Thermage, Dr. Wang is the doctor of choice for these revolutionary body treatments in the Pasadena and Riverside areas.
Recently, Dr. Wang added the Thermage CPT System to his practice, for improved comfort and results. This latest generation of Thermage offers several improvements, including:
- More uniform heating of a greater volume of tissue for increased effectiveness
- Comfort Pulse Technology, including a vibrating handpiece, to deliver enhanced patient comfort
- Quicker, more efficient body treatments
What is the Thermage procedure?
Thermage was developed to help erase the signs of aging skin. It works by targeting collagen structures beneath the skin's surface to tighten and firm underlying skin tissue. On the face, it is used for treating periorbital (around the forehead and eye) wrinkles, tightening the cheeks and jowl area, and reducing sagging under the chin. The treatment also can also be used to tighten skin anywhere else on the body including breasts, thighs, and arms.
How does it work?
During your treatment, capacitive radiofrequency (CRF) energy uniformly heats the dermis while cooling and protecting the epidermis. The treatment is designed to cause immediate collagen contraction followed by new collagen production which occurs over a period of time. The Thermage procedure is the only non-invasive method to tighten, contour, and rejuvenate loose skin on the face, thighs, stomach, arms, and hands.
How long will the Thermage procedure take?
The procedure may take from 30 minutes to two hours depending on the number of treatment areas and the size of the area treated. You can elect to have Thermage CPT performed in our plastic surgery office, serving the Pasadena area, or Thermage NXT at our office in Upland, serving the Inland Empire.
What does a Thermage procedure feel like?
Each time the Thermage system delivers radiofrequency energy to the skin, you will feel a brief heat sensation, followed by a cooling sensation. The vibrating handpiece and improved energy delivery method of Thermage CPT results in increased patient comfort with this system. In most instances, the energy can be adjusted so that no topical or local anesthetic is necessary.
When can I return to my normal activities?
Because the procedure generally involves no "downtime," you can return to your normal activities immediately. Depending on the degree of treatment, some patients may experience mild to moderate swelling or redness, and choose to take some time off after the procedure. There is no special care needed after treatment, though wearing sunscreen on the treatment areas is very important. Continuing to protect your skin will also prolong the results of your Thermage treatment.
When will I see results?
Because Thermage treatments affect the body's natural production of collagen, results from the procedure continue for many months. Most of our patients see results gradually over two to six months, although some patients notice improvement as early as two weeks after treatment.
How many treatments will I need?
A single treatment has produced good results in many of our patients. However, Dr. Wang will assess the number and frequency of treatments required to achieve optimal results for your skin. Larger areas of the body, like the thighs, stomach, and buttocks may need more than one treatment to produce your desired results.
How long will the effects of the procedure last?
Recently published studies show that improvements continue for at least six months after a single treatment session. Other studies show that thermal collagen changes can last several years, depending on the rate of the aging process.
How safe is it?
All Thermage treatments are FDA approved, have been studied carefully on hundreds of patients, and are very safe. In rare cases skin damage can occur which is why it is important to go to a doctor like Dr. Wang who has considerable experience with this new technology. Because Dr. Wang is one of the first doctors to use this technology, he has more experience than most other doctors serving the Inland Empire and Pasadena areas.
