What’s the miraDry® downtime and potential side effects?

How many miraDry® treatments will I need?

miraDry is contraindicated for patients who:

• Have a heart pacemaker or other electronic device implant
• Use supplemental oxygen • Have had prior problems with locally injected anesthesia (e.g.: lidocaine with epinephrine, medications that interfere with numbing, etc.)
• miraDry is NOT recommended for patients who have had previous axillary surgery, as dermis and fat interface layer may have been altered from the surgical procedure
• Immune-compromised or taking medications that might interfere with healing post-procedure

Is Dermapen or Vampire Facial painful?

Pain levels vary for each patient, based upon tolerance to pain, areas being treated, and other factors. For light treatments, the sensation is compared to a tickling sensation. For deeper treatments, in order to minimize pain, Dr. Wang or his assistants can apply a numbing anesthetic cream to the area being treated prior to the procedure.

Is there any downtime?

On the day of treatment, the treated area will be red and very mildly sore. You will look like you have a sunburn. The same day post-treatment, you will be able to apply make-up as usual and your skin will appear slightly pink. Some people have mild peeling of sloughed dead skin 3-4 days after the treatment.

How long does a treatment take?

Although the actual Dermapen® treatment takes only a few minutes, we schedule you for a one hour appointment time so that we can comfortably numb the area prior to treatment and answer any questions you may have.

What precautions do I need to take after treatment?
