After gradually losing 70 lbs through diet and exercise, I was left with extra fat around my waist and upper arms. I consulted Dr. Wang to have a liposuction procedure performed in October, 2004, and was happy with the result. However, I was still dissatisfied with the loose skin around my upper arms and considered whether to have an arm lift done and bear the scars or to leave the loose skin on my arms.
The limited choices left me very frustrated because I tried so hard to lose weight in my early 20’s and vigorously exercised 4 times a week. After all the hard work, I was still not able to feel comfortable in sleeveless clothes. I returned to Dr. Wang for further consultation.
Dr. Wang suggested that I try "Thermage," a skin tightening treatment without surgery. At the time, I never heard of such treatment being performed on the arms, but I was tempted to give it a shot. In September 2005, I had my first Thermage treatment on my right arm. The two-hour long procedure was not without pain, but it was manageable.
Only twelve hours after the treatment, my right arm was noticeably smaller and tighter than my left arm. Two months later, I went ahead and had the second treatment done on my left arm with the same protocol.
I decided to have a third treatment on my right arm again in February 2006 with the new treatment protocol. I was surprised with the new protocol because it took much less time and it was much less painful compared to the original treatment.
It has been a few months since my Thermage treatment, and I am so glad that I did it. My skin is much tighter; stretch marks are 30% to 50% less visible, and most of all, I can now walk down the street in my favorite spaghetti straps to show off my arms.
